In the UK removals industry, a long distance move is generally anything over 50–100 miles. Cross-country moves of 150+ miles are definitely long distance. We treat any move requiring significant motorway travel as a long distance removal.
London to Manchester takes around 4 hours of driving. London to Edinburgh is 7+ hours. Add loading time (2–4 hours) and unloading (1–3 hours). Most long distance removals are completed in a single day, though Scotland runs sometimes need overnight stays.
